Policies & Agreements

This page outlines the key policies, agreements, and expectations for students in our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. Please review carefully, as these guidelines are designed to support your success and to help us create a respectful, engaged learning community.

No formal prerequisites required.

Recommended: at least one year of consistent yoga practice and a basic familiarity with breath work and body awareness.

As part of your participation in the program:

  • Students must have Zoom installed and know how to use it.
  • Live session Zoom links as well as all on-demand sessions can be found in your HI Online course.
  • Minimum daily participation: Attend at least one live session on each day that live sessions are scheduled.
  • Missed live sessions: watch the recording (available ~4 hours after) and submit a short session summary (3–5 bullet points).

To get the most from your experience, we ask that you:

  • Create a dedicated, distraction-free physical space.
  • Keep your camera on during live sessions when possible.
  • Speak up at least once each session (question, reflection, insight).
  • Participate fully in breakout or small-group work.
  • Review on-demand content before live sessions to prepare.
  • Keep up with content in a way that works for you.
  • Attend live sessions even if you’re behind on homework.
  • Begin and end each live session on time.
  • Contact us if you’re lagging or need support.
You are expected to:

  • Be fully present and prepared for practicums, lectures, and practice teaching.
  • Respect differences in culture, faith, physical ability.
  • Keep confidential anything shared in class among students and staff.
  • Use respectful language; avoid behavior that disrupts the group.
  • Reach out proactively to the Certification Program Director if any issues or concerns arise.

To receive your 200-hour certification, you must:

  • Complete all on-demand content and attend live sessions (minimum one live session/day that live sessions are offered).
  • Submit all assignments:
    • 30-Day Meditation Journal with summary report
    • Teaching Self-Evaluation of 12 hours taught
    • Written knowledge assessment
  • Demonstrate teaching proficiency.
  • All requirements must be submitted within two years from the training start date. After that period, certification may require retaking components or the full program.
  • All requirements, including attendance, assignments, teaching evaluation, and competency, must be met before certification is awarded.
  • The faculty reserves the right to withhold certification if, in their professional judgment, certain criteria have not been met. Training staff will provide feedback and support throughout to help you succeed.

We keep things simple and student-friendly:

  • Application Fee: The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Full Refund: Tuition is fully refundable up until the first day of training.
  • Partial Refund: After the training begins, you may cancel and receive a 50% refund of tuition up until the start of Module 2.
  • No Refunds After Module 2: Once Module 2 has begun, no refunds are available.
  • Deferrals: We understand that unexpected life events can arise. If you need to withdraw after the refund period, please reach out to us about deferring your enrollment to the next available training.
  • Course access: Please note that with any cancellation—whether full or partial—your access to course materials will end.
