Overview

Immerse yourself in one of the most biodiverse places on Earth for a yoga and hiking wellness retreat designed to restore your body, mind, and spirit. Centered around nourishment and healing, this three-night experience blends gentle yoga, breath-centered meditation, and mindful hiking through lush forests, flowing streams, and cascading waterfalls in Great Smoky National Park. Our home base, Camp Atagahi — a peaceful glamping sanctuary named after a mythical healing lake — offers the perfect setting to unwind, let go of what no longer serves you, and reconnect with the energy of the natural world. Surrounded by a supportive community and the soothing rhythms of the forest, you’ll return home feeling replenished, uplifted, and deeply aligned with your own sense of well-being.

Rooted in rest and healing, our yoga sessions focus on breath-coordinated movement, guided meditation, and deep relaxation to awaken your prana shakti — the subtle energy that supports you on every level. Whether you’re new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, you’ll experience practices that foster clarity, vitality, and lasting inner peace.

Explore with Intention

Our hikes are accessible to a broad range of fitness levels and are designed to complement your yoga practice — enhancing both energy and mindfulness. Learn about the region’s unique biodiversity from expert guides and connect deeply with the life that surrounds you.

Camp Atagahi: Sacred Ground

Named after a mythical healing lake known only to the pure of heart, Camp Atagahi is more than a place to stay — it’s part of the retreat experience itself. With its babbling brook, lush rhododendrons, and secluded mountainside location, the camp offers a peaceful sanctuary for reflection, connection, and restoration. Cozy nights by the fire and the sounds of the forest will cradle you into restful sleep each night.

Community & Connection

While personal reflection is at the core of this retreat, the sense of community is what makes it truly unforgettable. You’ll share this journey with a group of like-minded individuals — all seeking healing, growth, and presence. Through shared meals, hikes, yoga practices, and heartful conversation, meaningful connections naturally unfold.

This is more than a retreat — it’s a return to your essential self.

Come as you are, and leave replenished, reconnected, and full of life.

Itinerary

This is a realistic sample itinerary to show what a potential schedule might look like. Considering the broad hiking possibilities, and leaving room to adapt to a variety of circumstances, the exact itinerary will unfold on a day-by-day basis, with the exception of our fixed arrival time.

Meet at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, by 9 a.m. Get oriented with an introduction from our staff, gear checks, and health-form reviews, followed by departure to our first trailhead near the Elkmont campground. On the way we’ll pick up parking passes, as we’ll be leaving our personal vehicles at Elkmont for the duration of the trip. From here, we’ll enjoy the moderate 5.3-mile Cucumber Gap loop, which takes you along a quintessential Smoky Mountain river and through beautiful rolling forest trails. Our guides will get you oriented to unique flora and fauna, while also creating space for solitude and riverside meditation. Afterwards, we’ll shuttle one hour to Camp Atagahi, your home for the next 3 nights. Enjoy a freshly prepared vegetarian dinner and a cozy community campfire, where we’ll reflect on the afternoon together and culminate our day with a guided meditation before settling into sleeping bags and the songs of the forest.

Wake up to a cup of freshly roasted coffee or brewed tea, followed by gentle breath-connected movement to start the day. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll grab our packed lunches and head for a scenic one-hour drive to the Clingman’s Dome parking lot. At 6,644’ elevation, Clingman’s Dome is the 3rd highest peak east of the Mississippi River! From here, we’ll enjoy a beautiful 4-mile out-and-back ridge hike to the open meadow of Andrew’s Bald. We’ll enjoy our lunch while soaking in 360-degree Smoky Mountain views — a perfect setting in which to relax and meditate. We’ll return late afternoon to a cup of tea/coffee with time to enjoy the ambiance of camp. After dinner, we’ll gather around the campfire to reflect on our day, capped off by a guided meditation.

After breakfast, we’ll head to the North Carolina side of the park for a relaxing day by the river. We’ll follow the Big Creek Trail, highlighted by Midnight Hole, one of the best swim spots in the Smokies, and Mouse Creek Falls, a 41-foot waterfall. A little further up the trail we’ll come to an expansive opening along the river which provides the perfect setting for self-guided meditation and reflection.

Soak in the surrounding beauty and nourishment on your last morning at Camp Atagahi. After yoga and meditation, we’ll enjoy breakfast, grab our packed lunches, and head out for the day. Following a short drive, we’ll stroll leisurely along the trails, digesting our new friendships and experiences, and preparing to venture back into the world feeling renewed. No later than 2 p.m. we’ll return to Sugarlands visitor center to say our goodbyes.

*Schedule subject to change
**Additional yoga and meditation will be included during our hikes as time and space permit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q) What is the nature of this excursion?
A) This is a community-oriented yoga and hiking wellness immersion in the Great Smoky Mountains. The hiking is designed to be accessible to a variety of fitness levels and is intended for anyone who loves moving through the outdoors. Our Yoga and meditation practice will enhance our opportunity to receive the nourishment that our external environment offers, and allow us to connect deeper within.

Q) How difficult are the hikes?
A) The hikes are easy to moderate with gradual elevation gains. They typically range between 4-6 miles with 400-800 feet of elevation gain.

Q) How many days are we hiking?
A) There will be guided hikes offered all 4 days.

Q) How long are most of the hikes?
A) 4-6 miles.

Q) What are the hiking trails like?
A) Most of the trails will be packed dirt with roots, a few rocks and some old logging trails that may have gravel.

Q) What will the weather be like? Should we expect rain?
A) The weather can range from low 80’s during the day and mid 40’s at night. The Smoky Mountains are a temperate rain forest, so rain at some point during the trip is likely. Be prepared with layers and a rain jacket at minimum. Keep in mind, it’s the rain that brings so much life, and adds to the beauty of the forests.

Q) What is the highest altitude on the trek?
A) The highest potential altitude for this excursion is around 6,000 feet.

Q) When should we arrive and depart? Where does the excursion begin and end?
A) The excursion will begin and end at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Gatlinburg, TN. Plan to arrive by 8:30 am on May 18th, 2026 for orientation. Plan to depart no earlier than 2:00 pm on May 21st, 2026.

Q) How do I reach the Fairfield Inn and Suites? What about parking?
A) The Fairfield Inn and Suites is located at 611 Historic Nature Trail, Gatlinburg, TN 37738 . It’s approximately 1 hour from McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville, TN, 2 hours from Asheville International Airport, or within a 5 hour drive of Charlotte, NC, Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, Alabama, Lexington, KY, and many other metropolitan areas.

Transportation can be arranged through Smoky Bear Shuttle from Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport to Gatlinburg. It’s a fixed rate, so the more travellers, the lower the cost per person!

If you spend the night of May 17th at the Fairfield Inn and Suites, then you can leave your car in their parking lot until May 21nd. If you stay elsewhere and meet the group there on the 19th morning, then after orientation, you can follow our van to the nearby Sugarlands Visitor center, where you can expect to pay approximately $15.

Q) How can I prepare for this hiking excursion?
A) For physical preparation, simply stay active in your daily life, and consider weaving in a weekly hike that spans a few miles/a few hours, while wearing a lightly packed backpack. Go on at least one 5-7 mile hike with some elevation change (if possible) so you can see how your body responds.

For additional preparation, we’ll provide an online course portal that includes guided yoga, meditation, and relaxation practices that will reflect the guided practices being offered on the excursion.

Q) Will we have access to a phone or internet?
A) Cell reception will be limited throughout our trip. It might be intermittent during day hikes, but expect to be without service at Camp Atagahi. Also, there will be no Wi-fi available.

Q) What type of meals can I expect?
A) Freshly prepared and delicious homemade vegetarian meals.

Q) Will I be able to do laundry?
A) You will be able to hand-wash laundry provided you bring your own detergent. That said, our campsite is shaded by the forest canopy, and does not receive a lot of direct sunlight.

Q) What will the toilet and shower situation look like?
A) There is a “wash house” fed by a gravity water system and propane water heater that has multiple flushing toilets and two shower stalls with hot water.

Q) How do I register for this trip?
A) Register online or call 1-800-822-4547 x5.

Q) What if I need to cancel?
A) Requests for cancellation must be made in writing to the Tour Organizer. See the Tour Participant Agreement for complete terms and conditions and applicable cancellation charges. As a non-profit we are unable to offer exceptions to our cancellation policy – we therefore require participants to purchase trip cancellation insurance in the event you need to cancel your reservation due to any reason.
